PROJECT PROFILE

Owner: The University of Akron
Architect: Zeidler Partnership
Services: General Contractor Lead Contractor

Having originally constructed Guzzetta Hall over 30 years ago, Dunlop And Johnston was again involved. As the lead contractor on this 50,834 square feet performing arts learning complex including seven spacious dance studios, Dunlop and Johnston proved its ability to communicate and coordinate working with both local and state administrated architects, local and state owners reps as well as a construction manager to meet all mile stones including a drop dead date of completion prior to the start of the Academic Year.

End users include University of Akron dance students, UA Dance Institute students and visiting performers now enjoy a state of the art facility unequalled by any university in the region. The addition is oriented toward the north, with a drop-off circle in front leading to the second floor entrance. A sky light is centered in the middle of the dramatic three-story atrium flooding all three floors with natural light. Unique features include 6 different exterior materials, two technology-enhanced classrooms, a physiotherapy room, and a large scenery shop.
