LITTLE TIKES DISTRIBUTION CENTER
PROJECT PROFILE

Owner: Little Tikes Company
Architect: Preston R. Abbey
Services: Construction Manager

Winner of the prestigious “Build Ohio” award, this new, 15-acre distribution center was completed in nine months, through the coldest winter and wettest spring on record. Construction was further challenged in that the site bordered both an active rail line as well as high voltage transmission lines. With Dunlop & Johnston as construction manager for this sixth project for this repeat client, planning was essential as “just in time” deliveries were required due to the limited storage and laydown areas. Aggressive uses of “pre-assemby” on the ground allowed the structural steel to be erected both safer and quicker. Tractor trailer sized heating and dehumidification units allowed the segmenting off and placement of the floors throughout the winter. Having almost lost a superintendent in the knee deep mud and muck, Dunlop & Johnston, Inc. never lost focus on meeting the owner’s most important needs; on time and within the project budget.
