As the Construction Manager for this project, Dunlop & Johnston, Inc. was involved early in the process. Initial involvement was to work closely with the architect during the design development stages. This involvement was beneficial for all parties. Dunlop & Johnston, Inc. gained the opportunity to discover exactly the intent of the designers. Also, we were able to give some input towards the design in any areas that we saw a potential for cost savings or increased efficiencies. This exposure at the front end of the project was very beneficial as the project moved to the construction phase. Dunlop & Johnston, Inc. was able to directly respond to many of the contractors’ questions because of their intimate knowledge of the construction documents. Additionally, in the post-construction phase, Dunlop & Johnston, Inc. was already aware of the items that were most important to the owner; these items were prioritized and responded to first.
