Sustainability

Sustainable development ensures that meeting today’s needs does not compromise the ability of future generations to meet their needs. By focusing on the three spheres that frame sustainability – environment, social, and economic, buildings can be developed and facilities designed in a responsible way to help reduce consumption of non-renewable resources, minimize waste, and enhance ecosystem services.

Utilizing a sustainable design philosophy encourages the identification and implementation of practical and measurable green building and land use solutions at each phase of the development process. It is an integrated multi-disciplinary approach that positively impacts all phases of a project’s life cycle including building design, construction, operations, maintenance, and reuse.

Rating systems provide detailed design strategies to address building and site performance. Assessment methodologies like LEED (Leadership in Energy & Environmental Design), Green Globes, and SITES (Sustainable Sites Initiative) offer additional incentives to optimize project outcomes.

Dunlop & Johnston, Inc. is committed to sustainable development and strives to incorporate “green” principles into all projects. For each and every project, our team encourages the recycle and salvage of all construction, demolition, and land clearing waste whenever possible. We utilize recycled dumpster services on all construction sites regardless of the project’s sustainability requirements. It is our intention to deliver sustainable, energy-efficient, state-of-the-art projects which will benefit our clients and the environment well into the future.
